We’re delighted to introduce our new Circadian Hydration Range, a collection of tasty drinks crafted to help senior adults keep their fluid levels topped up throughout the day.

Hydration remains one of the most significant nutritional challenges in later life. As we age, appetite and thirst levels naturally decline, making it harder to take in enough food and fluids to meet our nutritional needs. The consequences can be serious too, from an increased risk of falls to health concerns such as confusion, urinary tract infections and kidney problems.

We know that residents are much more likely to drink enough when staying hydrated feels like a natural part of their day, rather than something they are constantly being reminded to do. With that in mind, every detail, from taste and aroma through to temperature and presentation, has been carefully thought through. The drinks change throughout the day, starting light and refreshing in the morning before moving on to warmer, more comforting choices as the evening draws in.

Following successful trials across several of our sites, we’re now excited to roll the range out across our wider estate. We hope it gives residents another small thing to look forward to, while giving teams a simple and effective way to support their wellbeing.

The range is designed to support hydration at three key points throughout the day:

Sunrise Revive

Blending zesty citrus with warm ginger, mint, and rosemary, this light juice drink combines bright flavours and wonderful aromas to naturally encourage drinking in the morning.

Midday Boost

A nourishing smoothie designed to keep energy levels steady throughout the afternoon. Blending fortified milk, yoghurt, and oats with banana, chia seeds, and a touch of spinach, it delivers a rich mix of protein, calcium, and fibre in an appealing and manageable serving.

Moonlight Calm

A warm, comforting drink that supports hydration and helps residents unwind. It blends warm milk with familiar flavours of chamomile, honey, nutmeg and ginger, best enjoyed in the evening before bed.

Making every sip count

Our culinary and Dietetic teams worked together to create the Circadian Hydration Range, drawing on their expertise and understanding of senior adults’ needs.

Darren Neal, our Head of Culinary, explained:

“Eating and drinking engage all of our senses, and together with our Dietitians, we’ve developed our Circadian Hydration Range, which goes beyond hydration alone to create a more engaging experience. Our trials across several sites were successful, so we’re now working with our partners within assisted living and care homes to bring this to more residents across the UK and support overall wellbeing.”

Valentina Giannelli, our Dietitian, added:

“One of the biggest challenges in later living nutrition is that appetite and thirst naturally decline with age. We need to find ways to deliver enough nutrition and hydration in smaller, more appealing portions that residents genuinely want to consume.

“The Circadian Hydration Range is about much more than fluids. It combines nutritional science with sensory engagement, creating an enjoyable experience that encourages people to drink regularly and supports their health and wellbeing.”
